Delia Latham's "Gypsy's Game"

Title: Gypsy's Game
Publisher: White Rose Publishing.

Cover blurb: Gypsy Lovell stands to inherit an enormous amount of money from a father who never gave her anything but a ridiculous name. Even now, he doesn’t make it easy. A stipulation in the man’s will demands that Gypsy be married in order to claim what is hers.

Desperate for the monetary windfall that could save her ailing mother’s life, Gypsy visits a Christian dating agency, hoping to find a temporary husband. Someone easy to handle for the required six months, and easy to get rid of when she no longer needs him.

Jal Garridan is neither of those things, but he's willing to take on the challenge presented by the beautiful stranger—on his own terms.

What Gypsy doesn’t know is that Solomon’s Gate is a dating agency with a Divine connection. What she finds there may save more than her mother’s life. It may save Gypsy’s soul.

1) How did this story come to you?
With all three of the Solomon's Gate books, the titles came first, and I built the stories around them. The first two books were the standard romance storyline where couples meet and go through the whole courting process. I wanted the third one to be something a little different—a hero and heroine who get married and then the courtship begins. How would it differ? What would be the guidelines of intimacy? What if one was strong in faith and the other had absolutely none? And with the title character being named Gypsy, it was a lot of fun to create a story around her heritage.

2) Tell us about the journey to getting this book published.
Well, since this book was contracted ahead of time, along with the first two in the series, there was absolutely none of the usual submission/rejection/re-submission scenario—which was absolutely wonderful! I discovered that writing a book is much, much easier (at least, for me) when I know it already has a home. Besides, I had a deadline. LOL I had no choice but to write.

3) Tell me three things about yourself that would surprise your readers.
This is always a hard question for me, because I don't feel that I do anything out of the ordinary very often. Anyone who has followed my writing career at all probably knows everything I can think of to say here…but I'll give it a shot.

o I was raised in a tiny farming community called WEEDPATCH. That's pretty much what it was, too...I can still feel those goat head stickers in my feet when I think about them!

o Once upon a time, I was the lead singer in a country-western band. Yep, stood up in front of people and sang about cheatin' hearts and such.

o I was a clown for a short time. A friend and I started a business entertaining at children's parties. It was a short-lived endeavor...I think it was while trying to make kids laugh that I realized humor is probably not my forte.

4) What are you working on now and what's next for you?
I'm currently working on several novellas for anthologies, and one full-length novel…which has been temporarily shunted to the back burner while I write the shorter ones.

My next release will probably be a novella that's part of a Valentine's Day collection, which will also include stories by three other White Rose Publishing authors. I say "probably" because I'm not sure about the release of a novelette (10,000-12,000 words) that's somewhere in publishing limbo land. It may or may not be published before the Heart's Haven book.

5) Parting comments?
I'm so excited about Gypsy's Game! The time between Book Two and Book Three seemed extraordinarily long to me, and I hope my readers are as eager for Gypsy's story as I was to see it released. 

6) Where can fans find you on the internet?
Googling my name will bring up a confusing number of guest blog spots, interviews, articles, etc. While readers are certainly welcome to dive into that maelstrom if they so choose, I'm very easily found at the following places:

My website
My blog, Living the Write Life
Creative Writing Forces, a blog I co-author with two other writers

Dana Pratola's "The Covering"

Title: The Covering
Publisher: White Rose Publishing

Cover blurb: What do a woman of faith and a heathen biker have in common? The devil of course.

1) How did this story come to you?
I’ve always been fascinated by glimpses into the spirit realm, whether through God’s Word, testimonies, or fiction, like Frank Peretti’s Darkness series. I wanted to illustrate that forces for Good and evil are always at work around us and the lengths God will go to to show us the Truth.

2) Tell us about the journey to getting this book published.
As I tell everyone, it was only God. I couldn’t afford to attend a writer’s conference, so God led me to a free online conference where I pitched the book to Nicola Martinez. In five minutes I had a request for the entire manuscript and signed the contract shortly thereafter.

3) Tell me three things about yourself that would surprise your readers.
1. This year marks the first time I’ve read the entire Bible, cover to cover. I always intended to but this year I actually did it, lol.
2. I know many women won’t agree, but I DO NOT find Brad Pitt sexy. I just don’t get what the big deal is. 3. I can get almost any knot out of anything.

4) What are you working on now and what's next for you?
My next book is about a young woman who is suddenly gifted with an extraordinary singing voice, how she uses her gift, and the consequences of her choices. Of course there is a love interest – an autobiographer doing her story.

5) Parting comments?
Thanks for having me, it was a blast =-)

Lillian Duncan's "Pursued"

Title: PURSUED
Publisher: White Rose Publishing

Cover blurb: Reggie Meyers has spent her life pursing the American Dream, but now she’s the one being pursued— by an unknown killer. Putting her trust in Dylan Monroe, a man she barely knows, will either be the best decision she ever made or the last.

Reggie’s a big city lawyer and Dylan’s a country farmer. In the normal course of events, their lives would never intersect but some accidents just aren't meant to be avoided. When Reggie crashes into Dylan, it makes a bad day even worse or so she thinks. Dylan, on the other hand, is intrigued by the feisty lady lawyer and wrangles a way to spend a bit more time with her by offering to drive her home after the accident. And so the journey that will change both their lives begins...

1) How did this story come to you?
I wanted to write a story that showed the different mindsets of “city folks” and “country folks.” To put a twist on it, I wanted the heroine to be the high-powered ambitious attorney and the hero to be the “simple farmer.”

2) Tell us about the journey to getting this book published.
I submitted to White Rose Publishing because I wanted a publisher with experience in both ebooks and print books. It seemed like a good fit. They gave me some wonderful feedback which I listened to and revised the book. I was absolutely delighted when White Rose Publishing accepted the book and offered me a contract.

3) Tell me three things about yourself that would surprise your readers.
1) I’m hooked on TV crime shows with my favorite being NCIS and Criminal Minds a close second.
2) I used to love to cook, but now I’m spoiled because my husband is a wonderful cook! On the rare occasion when he asks me to fix dinner, I stand in the kitchen and wonder what I should do!
3) I’m very short—4’8”. It can be difficult at times, especially when I need something off the top shelf. But most people never forget me because of my height—and that’s a very good thing!!

4) What are you working on now and what's next for you?
I’m working on revisions of my new book, DECEPTION, to be published this fall. DECEPTION is the story of a set of estranged twins. When a niece she knows nothing about calls, Patti must unravel the truth of her sister’s disappearance. I’m also working on a sequel to PURSUED.

5) Parting comments?
Thanks so much for inviting me to your blog. If there are any would-be writers out there, I have three pieces of advice. First is never to give up, if it happened for me then it can happen for you. And the second thing is if you are serious about writing, join American Christian Fiction Writers. And the third thing is, never give up!!

Marianne Evans' "Hearts Communion"

Title: Hearts Communion
Publisher: White Rose Publishing

Cover blurb: Jeremy “JB” Edwards dreams of one thing: Having a loving wife and children of his own. Not a surprising ambition, since he was raised at the heart of a large, tight-knit family. Monica Kittelski spends her days at Sunny Horizons Daycare Center pouring her heart and faith into other people’s children. But Monica harbors one impossible dream: Having children of her own someday. JB and Monica seem the perfect match, but what will come of their electric, sassy relationship when Jeremy learns of Monica's infertility? Hopes and reality collide when they must confront the idea of finding God's plan and following His will when a dearest hope is destined to remain unfulfilled. Can these two loving, passionate hearts survive a communion of dreams and reality?

1) How did this story come to you?
Hearts Communion is part of my Woodland Series, so it bloomed as I settled into this very special fictional church and got to ‘know’ my characters. The series centers around a church in suburban Detroit called Woodland. Woodland stands along the shoreline of a gorgeous and picturesque lake called Lake St. Clair. These inspirational romances center around a few of the parishioners who worship there.

2) Tell us about the journey to getting this book published.
It all began with a contest win. White Rose Publishing sponsored the “Hearts Crossing” contest with the grand prize being publication. I was blessed by a win, but here’s the funny part: as I waited for the results of the contest, a series came to life in my heart. I had to tell these stories, whether I won the contest win or not. Hearts Surrender followed as book 2 in the series, and Hearts Communion is book 3. Hearts Key concludes the series early next year…although my editor has said, “You know…there are more parishioners, and more stories you could tell if you want to keep it going…” I like hearing that kind of reaction.

3) Tell me three things about yourself that would surprise your readers.
I’m a collector of antique salt cellars. I garden and weed to break episodes of writer’s block. I’m a Food Channel addict.

4) What are you working on now and what's next for you?
I’m developing another series for White Rose Publishing called ‘Sal’s Place.’ Sal’s Place is a comfy, family owned diner with lots of regulars, and employees, who I can see embracing some amazing stories of faith and love! My publisher is also considering a mainstream Christian novel I’ve tentatively titled Devotion. Devotion studies a marriage on the rocks, and how only God can get you through the tough times in a long-term, committed relationship. Writing it has been a complete joy, and such an eye-opening journey! I’ll keep you posted on developments!

Dora Hiers' "Journey's End"

Title: JOURNEY’S END
Publisher: White Rose Publishing.

Cover blurb: Devastated after the brutal murder of her husband, Chelsea Hammond vows never to love another lawman. Intent on rebuilding her shattered life, she turns her focus to helping troubled teens. But when an angry father bent on retaliation, threatens her, Chelsea must turn to the one man she never thought to trust: Deputy U.S. Marshal Trey Colten.
Trey wants only to protect Chelsea, but she blames him for her husband’s death. Trey can relate. He blames himself, also. As danger lurks, Trey begs Chelsea to heed his warnings. He let down one Hammond. He won’t let down another—especially one who now holds his heart.
When Chelsea is snatched from her home, can she put aside her fear, and trust Trey with her life? Can she Forgive him for destroying her past and let him help to rebuild her future?
Where one journey ends, another begins…

1) How did this story come to you?
JOURNEY’S END germinated with a seed from a newspaper article about a mobster, finally convicted for his crimes years later. Intrigued, I played the “what if” game until I came up with the premise, which ended up nothing like the article.

2) Tell us about the journey to getting this book published.
After dropping out of the workforce to taxi my two sons around (and to make sure one of them actually attended school, he had a slight problem with that!), the writing seed dug in, took root around my heart with the idea for JOURNEY’S END. I soaked up online writing courses and attended a writer’s conference. Joined American Christian Fiction Writers, Carolina Christian Writers, and a critique group.
A dear friend from Carolina Christian Writers directed me to White Rose Publishing and on New Year’s Eve in 2010, some five years after I started down this crazy writing road, White Rose Publishing offered me a contract for JOURNEY’S END, my first heart racing, God-gracing book in the Marshals of Journey Creek series. Can you think of a better way to end one year and to begin another? Who needs fireworks?

3) Tell me three things about yourself that would surprise your readers.
I’m a family room sports fan. Why should I leave the comforts of my air-conditioned family room to enjoy NASCAR, football, and hockey?
No beaches for me. Give me the mountains! My favorite getaway consists of sipping coffee on a cabin deck tucked in the mountains.
I can be somewhat rebellious at times, like when it came to joining Facebook. So help a girl out, click on over, and “like” me. Dora Hiers Author

4) What are you working on now and what's next for you?
I’m about 98% finished with JOURNEY’S EMBRACE. I’m praying that JOURNEY’S EDGE will find a home with White Rose Publishing. I’ve also submitted two romantic fiction articles to Woman’s World Magazine for consideration.

5) Parting comments?
Thanks so much, Dawn, for hosting me today. I’ve enjoyed visiting with you and checking out the fabulous authors featured here.

Anne Greene's "Masquerade Marriage"

We're happy to have Anne Greene with us today talking about her book Masquerade Marriage. To learn more about Anne and her book, read on!

Title: Masquerade Marriage
Publisher: WhiteRosePublishing.com

Cover blurb: Attached as A Secret List
A SECRET LIST
He was born to a clan of noted warriors and musicians. Yet to protect his loved ones and escape the dark fate of his brothers, he abandons his identity. Hiding from relentless soldiers who want him dead, he vows to protect the woman he loves more than life, more than freedom, more than Scotland. But his presence throws her into
A VOW HONORED
She weds a stranger to save his life. But do vows make a marriage? When does a marriage become a marriage? What if she holds a different love inside her heart?
A SACRIFICE MADE
Steeling himself against the pain, he condemns himself to a life of heartbreak without her. Wanting her desperately, knowing he can’t have her, he surrenders her and heads alone to certain death. Outlawed, with a price on his head, does she love him enough to give up castle, lands, and family, and risk the agony of surrendering her heart a second time?

1) How did this story come to you?
During a long visit to the Highlands and Lowlands of Scotland I became intrigued with why Highland Clans no longer occupied the Highlands. You’ll find the surprising answer in my book Masquerade Marriage. I’m of Scottish ancestry as are so many Americans, and bagpipes music makes my heart sing. I fell in love with the awesome country and the friendly, complex people. So, being a writer, of course I had to write of what I knew. I love the clear fresh air, the handsome people, the amazing openness of the country, the castles, and the Scots violent, adventurous history. In the next few years I plan to add Cailin and Fiona’s love stories to Megan’s legendary love.
I also write contemporary suspense novels. I have a sassy detective novel, a modern day cowboy suspense, and a Coast Guard mystery, all set in my home state of Texas in the works. Did you know parts of the Civil War were fought in the west? I have a novel in the pipes that is a second book of a family saga which occurred in Talaquah, Oklahoma. I also have a World War 11 Women Pilots love story. I’d love to know if you prefer historical novels to contemporary novels. I’m taking a poll, so could you leave a comment?

2) Tell us about the journey to getting this book published.
My editor was one of the judges in the Finally A Bride Contest. A writer can only enter this contest if she has won or placed in another contest. The judge for the finalists, my editor to be, Nicola Martinez, asked for the full manuscript and sent me a contract.

3) Tell me three things about yourself that would surprise your readers.
I’d rather stay home and read or write then go to a large party. I like small parties. I’m very active, I’d rather participate in a sport than watch one. I like tennis, swimming, golf, horseback riding, and sailing. Because I sit behind a computer six to eight hours a day, I constantly fight weight gain.

4) What are you working on now and what's next for you?
I’m always working on three or more books at once. I have a lady detective book I have every hope of seeing published soon, I’m working on a sequel to Masquerade Marriage, I’m working on a woman test pilot in WW11 book, and several proposals for novellas.

5) Parting comments?
I’ll hope you’ll love Masquerade Marriage, my debut book with WhiteRosePublishing.com. I’ve had twelve five star reviews and heard back from fans who loved it and want more. I’d love to hear from you.

Delia Latham's "Destiny's Dream"

We're happy to have Delia Latham with us today talking about her book Destiny's Dream. To learn more about Delia and her book, read on!

Title: Destiny’s Dream
Publisher: White Rose Publishing, the first book in the Solomon’s Gate Series.

Cover blurb:
Is a little respect too much to ask at a parent’s funeral?
Apparently it is for Destiny May. Clay Gallagher is built like a small mountain and far more vocal than is fitting when he shows up late to her mother’s “going away party.” When it turns out he’s not even at the right funeral, Destiny demands retribution in the form of an escape from the day’s dreary proceedings. Spending time with a handsome stranger who makes her laugh is more therapeutic than fighting with her overbearing family.
Clay finds Destiny beautiful, charming...and intelligent. So why is she stubbornly determined to open a Christian dating service? Clay has little respect for such a frivolous profession, and doesn’t think the small, conservative town of Castle Creek will welcome such a progressive business. But when Destiny is threatened by an anonymous caller who deeply resents her and what she does for a living, Clay makes it his business to keep the saucy redhead out of harm’s way.
Trouble is, spending time in her company weakens his defenses, and Destiny may be the one thing Clay can’t escape...if he even wants to.

1) How did this story come to you?
I read a book about a woman who operated a dating agency several years ago…well, actually, it’s been a decade or more—before dating agencies became commonplace. The concept intrigued me, and I couldn’t help thinking how fun it would be to write a book about a Christian dating agency. From that, the storyline just evolved and grew and became Solomon’s Gate.

2) Tell us about the journey to getting this book published.
I submitted the manuscript to two other publishers. The first one wanted either pure romance, or a heavier dose of intrigue. The second wanted some changes I wasn’t thrilled about making—I would have, of course, had that been my only option. But I decided to send it to one more publisher first, and pray that they would love it as it was. White Rose Publishing did love it, and asked for information on the two follow-up storylines as well. I wound up with contracts on all three books, which was so much more than I had dared to hope for.

3) Tell me three things about yourself that would surprise your readers.
1. I used to sing in a Country and Western band, and actually made a couple of recordings during that time. I still love to sing, although an episode of asthma and pneumonia stole my breath and made it harder for me to sing for extended periods of time.
2. I married at age 16 and, thirty-seven years later, my husband and I still love each other.
3. Even though I write in the inspirational market, I do not read only inspirational books. Actually, my favorite book ever is Swan Song, by Robert R. McCammon. I also particularly enjoyed The Stand, by Stephen King. Neither book is inspirational, but both are epic tales of good vs. evil.

4) What are you working on now and what's next for you?
I’m currently working on Gypsy’s Game, the third book in the Solomon’s Gate Series. The second book (Kylie’s Kiss) is in the hands of the editors. I’ve already seen the first galleys, and am expecting 2nd round edits any time.

5) Parting comments?
Along with my blog tour, I’m conducting a big, fun contest. I’m encouraging readers to check out the details and find out how to earn plenty of entries into the Daughters of Destiny Contest.

6) Where can fans find you on the internet?
Lots of places, the most obvious, of course, being my website. I also have a blog, where I conduct interviews with other authors and post reviews of books I’ve read.
Then there’s my bi-monthly newsletter, Facebook, Bebo, Twitter, and a bunch of other networking sites. I love hearing from my readers, so be sure to pop in and say hello!

JoAnn Carter's "Teacher's Plans"

We're happy to have JoAnn Carter with us today talking about her book, Teachers Plans. To learn more about JoAnn and her book, read on!

Title: Teacher's Plans
Publisher: White Rose Publishing

Cover blurb: When Amanda Manning, an exhausted, short-handed special education teacher, is given an assistant, things don't turn out as she planned. Her new assistant is anything but what Amanda expected—most strikingly, a male.

Tracy Atkins secured a job as a teacher's assistant, but will he be able to secure the hand of the woman he is falling in love with? Especially when she finds out about the secret he is hiding? Come join their adventure as both Amanda and Tracy learn that God's plans are far better than their own. (Jeremiah 29:11)

1) How did this story come to you?
Have you ever been in what you thought was a disastrous situation—only to turn out to be one of the biggest blessings in your life? As I thought about that, this story started to coming to life for me. Truly, God's ways are higher than ours. This book was a fun outlet for me to share and explore just one way that we could see that come to be.

2) Tell us about the journey to getting this book published.
I held a contract for this story with a small e-publisher called, By Grace Publishing. However, before this book was published, the company went out of business. After a bit of searching for publishers who accepted Inspirational Romance, and praying, I found out about White Rose Publishing. (At the time, WRP was part of a larger group called The Wild Rose Press.)
I sent them a query. At first it came back rejected, but with suggestions for some revisions. I deeply appreciated their comments and knew I'd love to work with them so I could grow in the craft of writing. After working through the rewrites, I sent the manuscript back in, and the rest is history.

3) Tell me three things about yourself that would surprise your readers.
I'm not sure how surprising this is, but did you know my husband and I have been married for 18years? We have four boys ranging in age from 14-10. One of my favorite activities is walking. There's nothing like getting outside to see the flowers, snowflakes, birds, and other beautiful things in nature, up close and personal.

4) What are you working on now and what's next for you?
I'm working on a historical series set in 1923. The first book, The Floating Palace will be released July 15, 2011 from Desert Breeze Publishing. It's been a real blast and I'm enjoying every moment of this project! If you'd like to see the book trailer, please go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDcuTF8v9bg

But Holly makes him feel again, emotions quickly morphing into something much more dangerous to his hardened heart.
When the serial killer returns to finish what he started, only a miracle can save them…but then, it's the Season for Miracles.

1) How did this story come to you?
The prompt – why do they call it falling in love - came from a writing community on LJ called Nanowriwee – where you write 7k in 7 days.

2) Tell us about the journey to getting this book published.
I wrote a short story of 21K and submitted it to White Rose Publishing. My editor loved it but asked it be rewritten in third person so we saw the hero’s POV. The complete rewrite became my nanowrimo novel for 2009. I resubmitted it in Jan 2010, and got offered a contract for it. Several edits and a new title later and it releases on Nov 5th. Hubby jokes the whole of the UK will celebrate with bonfires and fireworks (it’s bonfire night so they’ll be doing it anyway)

3) Tell me three things about yourself that would surprise your readers.
1 -I am a registrar for Carey Baptist Church where I have done two weddings and neither bride wore white. 2 – I have a teddy bear that goes everywhere I do. He’s had his photo taken in Vegas, Scotland, Wales and on a volcano. 3 – I have been married for over 18 years to someone who always told me I’d end up published and wouldn’t me give up trying.

4) What are you working on now and what's next for you?
I recently signed the contract for a second book, which should come out before Christmas. I’m currently working on three full length novels.

5) Parting comments?
Thank you for having me here. I hope people that buy the book get as much enjoyment from reading as I did from writing it.
