A.K. Arenz' "Mirrored Image"

We're happy to have A.K. Arenz with us today talking about her book, Mirrored ImageTo learn more about A.K. and her book, read on!

The teaser for this book is: Their faces were the same. Will their fates be as well?

1) How did this story come to you?
Like most of my stories, it just suddenly appeared in my brain – it wasn’t long before the characters were knocking around in there waiting to be let out. 

2) Tell us about the journey to getting this book published.
It actually started in 1986. That’s when the story of Cassandra Chase and Jeff McMichaels was first written. It’s been re-written almost every year since then. The current version is the best – better than I could ever have imagined all those years ago.

3) Tell me three things about yourself that would surprise your readers.
Um, let’s see . . . first would be that when I start a book, I NEVER know how it’s going to turn out. I’m an introverted introvert. And third . . . I’m a writer who has trouble using her hands because I’ve a neuropathy in my fingers. Sometimes I have to use pencils situated between my knuckles to type.

4) What are you working on now and what's next for you?
I’m currently working on my next novel, An American Gothic. It’s due out October 2011.

5) Parting comments?
I want to thank you for inviting me to visit with you and your readers, and invite you to check out all my books. I have two cozy mysteries, The Case of the Bouncing Grandma, which was a finalist in ACFW’s 2009 Book of the Year contest, and the second in the Bouncing Grandma Mystery Series, The Case of the Mystified M.D., which won ACFW’s 2010 Carol Awards (formerly Book of the Year).

6) Where can fans find you on the internet?

  6. Bahahahah!!! The Bouncing Grandma books...I went to your website and read the blurbs : ) It was just too good to resist ; )

This book cover is phenomenal. Wow, really creepy...makes me definitely want to check out this book irrigardless of if I win or not. However, usually I can't find these books around! I live in a small Vermont town and we have to travel across into NH for all our shopping. We have Borders and one used bookstore. So limited choice!

What exactly is neuropathy? I have trouble too because even though I'm young for it, I have rheumatoid arthritis in my hands, wrists, and arms. So I know what it feels like to have trouble with the hands : (

Thanks so much for visiting today!!!

  13. It's very good to meet A.K. Arenz on your blog, K.Dawn. She and her writings are new to me and I find the concept of her giveaway book unique and probably spell binding. I admire A.K.'s dedication and fortitude to continue writing with her neuropathy. I can relate - I have neuropathy in my feet and legs, as well as severe gout. I am very arthritic all over. I'm sorry and sad for your illness. Thank you for the giveaway of your book and the chance to win it. I hope I do!

  14. Wow! What awesome comments - Thank you!!
Hannah - the problems I have with my fingers & hands are hypersensitized nerve endings, where it hurts to touch anything at times, even my skin. Right now my hands are doing better - thank God!
TO ALL OF YOU - if you like to laugh and mystery too, then the Bouncing Grandma books will deliver!
MIRRORED IMAGE is much more serious, hence the use of my full name. As for finding them in your stores, you probably won't - but most of them can order the books for you. If not, there's always the online bookstores!

Maureen - I'm not patient - just persistent. When you have a story that wants/needs to be told, that God is saying "This is it!", you listen. :)

God Bless you all & best of luck in the drawing.

    Alice K. Arenz

  18. Hi AK, I can understand the frustration of typing as I have arthritis and can only type for short time. I even have problems holding the small paperbacks but I have learned to just put the book down for a while and go back to reading after resting my hands. I love the Grandma books and will be seeing if available in my local bookstore. Thanks for stopping by to chat.
Pls enter me in the giveaway.

  19. Sounds intriguing. I used to tell my kids I'm an introverted extrovert, but they thought introverted introvert sounded more likely.

  21. You are all AWESOME! Thank you all very much.

MissKallie2000 - I can't hold the smaller books at all, which is why I love the trade paperback size of my books. They are the same size as a hardbound book. I use a series of pillows propped beneath my legs & on my lap to get the book in proper position - AND I cannot touch the books - the pages hurt - so I wear white "mime" gloves. Good thing people can't see me when I'm reading at night!

    God Bless you all!
